Considering Potential SDR Opportunity

$69k Base, $99k OTE, Remote

Legal Software

High company growth over last few years

Defined path to selling

1 meeting booked per day, 75 touches/day

All the usual benefits and what nots

Hiring process: 3 step, 1.5 week total.

Seems like a solid gig but wanted opinions and advice as I am unaware of the legal software space.

My thoughts are that there are ridiculous amount of law offices so there should be plenty of opportunity.

Side note: They have not begun expansion from the east coast yet, my position in the midwest would set me up for opps and growth as well.

If you donโ€™t have a job and they are offering you a job, take it. If youโ€™re not happy, keep looking.

But is it selling software to law firms or selling legal software to us regular folk?

I probably will.

1) have you checked Glassdoor/RepVue on the company?
2) have you tried connecting with current and former reps on LI? See how things have gone?
3) found analyst reports to see where the company lands with regards to market fit/position in market?

It doesn't sound like a terrible offer, but for example, if there's no market fit, or the product is in a saturated market, you may find it tough going. You may want to do some exploration beyond what the company is telling you to learn all you can.

1. yes,
2. I need to
3. How can I find that?

Yes thats what I was thinking. Which is why I was asking around since I am not really familiar with "Legal Tech"? I'm not sure thats a thing lol

For analyst reports, check Gartner, Forrester - Google analyst reports for the company/type of software and see what you find.

Given that information, this seems solid if it's something you can see yourself doing and succeeding in. Is there a ramp time, or are you expected to be hitting that one meeting a day metric right off the bat?

I think there is about a 3 week ramp

Assuming you can handle the same "can I bill you for the time" joke with lawyers for almost every meeting, go for it!

Congrats! I would grab it if thatโ€™s the only option and remember change is the only constant so market is open

Why do you want to take a step down?

Not really a step down. I haven't gotten my chance at a closing role yet due to an acquisition. Senior SDR here have a 4-6 month path to close and the freedom aspect is nice. I'm also in the running for much higher positions. This is more of a safety net.

Sounds great!

I'd inquire further about the growth...is it more hiring for roles like yours?

Horror stories about companies hiring tons of sales reps and then having to do layoffs not long after.

Lots of good threads about this, use search bar.

Hmm I did not think of that. I definitely will

Negotiate on the 75 touches part. Ask them what if you can do your job better with 15 touches ? Will tell you a lot about the company, the role, and whatโ€™s coming your way in next 6 months.

I've done this in the past and actually touched on it in initial conversations. I say that I do my research and value setting meetings that are quality and will close vs just hitting numbers.
