Cost of living is going insane most everywhere. I've not gotten a raise more years than I have, but I've absolutely gotten them before.

You can always ask, but each company will probably have a different way they approach salary compensation and wages. At some places an annual increase in base is normal, at other places it may take a change in job title to get a raise

That's accurate. Some even have COL adjustments. Usually very small (think 2%ish) and maybe they'll throw in an additional 1% if you were particularly awesome.

Pssshhh I got hired and asked for a base pay raise a week later. Doesn’t hurt to ask just be ready and able to justify to your management 1. Hearing you out in the first place 2. Justifying their time to go to bat for that increase. I was just promoted recently and negotiated a higher base off the bat. Got two weeks in and realized I didn’t ask enough. So, I collected data based on the companies goals, gathered my data from my daily activities and team then made a case to my Vp who just gave me a higher base!
Long and short is they said no lol. However I tried and so should you:).

You should always ask for base bump. It's expensive out here.

Asking for a cost of living bump is different than a straight out raise. Your company knows all
About cost of living and if they had to backfill your job, they’d have to pay more.
