As I'm sure everyone else here is, I get hit up by recruiters on the daily. I'm typically hesitant to respond to roles from recruiters with positions that are "small" or "start-up" firms (aka non established "large" orgs).
As of recent, I started to take conversations with them. Started looking for new gigs after feeling slight burn-out with my current position. The past 2-3 times I've gone somewhat far along the process, only to be told "we've decided to move forward with someone who more closely aligns with the position". One firm even went as far as doing background (100% clean) and bother people I provided as references.
Was curious if anyone else has noticed this? Is it me? Is there something I am not doing correctly during the process or conversation? I think it only stings since they reached out to me first.
