Is there a right time?

These 3 questions have been on my mind lately:

  • Does being in sales means you have to follow a linear path of being a BDR/SDR - AE- Manager- Director?
  • Is there any other career trajectory people have taken while working as a BDR and not following the traditional route?
  • When is the right time in sales to make a career move from one company to other or one role to other?

Wow this is a lot of deep questions packed into one post!

I'll tackle the first question...
NO! Take whatever damn path you want yo. I know lots of people who are KILLING it making bank as individual contributors. I know people who are perfectly happy being BDRs for the foreseeable future. If everyone had to become a Director, there would be WAY more directors than there needed to be. Do what you want.
