Looking for stories

Hey savages! I am working on a new sales books and I want to add some more stories about sales management. Can any of you share stories of great/horrible management practices that you think are really interesting?


EDIT: Kosta just asked a comment and I feel like I was too vague. I am looking for stories that either show brilliance or incompetence from managers. I am thinking about unique times they ruined/saved a deal, how they make training amazing or boring, or possibly times they may have drove away a top salesperson because of their management styles.

Situation: driving away top rep (me)

when I came to him to have an honest conversation around comp miscalculations and issues im seeing with how he was projecting out OTE, he pretty much made fun of me and the line ill never forget was "Go try and find a better opportunity at a high growth startup in (city name)".

i ended up doing just that.

There are dozens of threads for you to pick away at for stories. One of them has my story of a manager getting too drunk at altitude and causing me to miss club because he scuttled an expansion deal with the CEO of one of my accounts.

Can you give us an example of an "ideal" story. I have posts about being asked to work out weekends and my manager only wanting to motivate with money

Or is it more good/bad advice given?

That is all part of it, but I am looking for stories that really show either brilliance or incompetence from a manager when it comes to understanding what salespeople go through on a say-to-day basis.I know there are tons of stories about managers making a sales team little more than a KPI factory.

I would love stories where managers stepped in and either totally ruined or saved a deal or drove away a top salesperson.

I have enough stories to write my own book, and then some.....crazy sales stories.....with positive outcomes. Contortionist sales processes, lots of schmoozing........grabbing victory out of the belly of a lost sale (they swallowed already) and still win it! What kind of stories do you want? 📞 me! 😁
