My wife says I live a life of anxiety and stress. I don’t notice it. Is this because it’s not true or because I’m a “seasoned rep”?

Right! Which is why you gotta listen to the people who love and know you. At least talk to a doctor and do some blood work.

Also I know some people who keep it together at work and then show all their stress at home. The stereotypical "angry dad" who comes home grumpy because of their job is a stereotype for a reason.

Hey man, for real listen to those around you.

But also do as I say and not as I do.

I guess we all kind of like living on the edge, but if she's noticing, maybe it's more than usual? Or she's worried about you.

That’s a good question - I’m interviewing for AE roles so ya it’s a whole other world

What is your current role? Different? Or is it that interviewing itself is stressful?

Just go to the doctor once a year and make sure you don't have crazy high blood pressure or something.
Non-sales people live different lives, but we have different kinds of stress. If she is your wife she probably knows you well so just double check yourself to stay healthy.

Appreciate everyone’s comments, I also feel like I thrive in the environment. But was curious if others experienced this as well.

yea, I certainly do as well. but that's not actually the issue for me.

for me, it's more to do with anxiety-triggered responses to things that shouldn't trigger anxiety...not sure what your wife is referencing.

Maybe ask for more info on what she means by "live a live of anxiety and stress" What are you doing that reflects this? Not for me to know, but for you to think about.

These days you can book a Telehealth with a therapist/social worker and get a professional opinion as well.

My wife points this out to me as well. I would say that it's partially true for me.

I read something the other day (if I find it, I will post) that a small amount of anxiety is healthy in order to overcome challenges and "threats" but that it needs to be in balance...and I mean really really in balance. haha.

That being said, if like me, it starts to take over then you need to be aware and start exploring how to manage it.

Love this - please share. The more I think about it, I think I’m addicted to stress.

You're likely just acclimated to it. Try to consciously take some time to relax and disconnect from your daily life and you might be surprised how stressed you normally are.

Ya ur right I guess less sales activity sometimes makes me more stressed - harder I work the luckier I get. Nothing more stressful than sucking

It's possible that you may not be aware of your own level of anxiety and stress because it has become a normal part of your daily life. It's also possible that you have developed coping mechanisms or ways of dealing with stress that make it feel less noticeable to you. It's important to be open to the possibility that your wife may have a valid perspective on your level of stress and to consider the impact that stress may be having on your overall well-being. It may be helpful to take some time to reflect on your own feelings and behaviors and to consider seeking the help of a mental health professional if you are experiencing high levels of stress or anxiety that are affecting your daily life.

My fiancé has said the same about me. Unfortunately, I outperform only in these environments. 🥲
Maybe that’s why you too don’t notice.
My advice - listen to your folks before it’s too late.

What was your first sales role that made you realize you were born to do this? Mine was girl scouts and moving way more cookies than the rest of my fellow brownies

To the parents out there, how have you balanced your sales career with raising young children, especially during WFH in Covid? Do you feel more productive with WFH or less?
