I'm sure some of you saw this clown on LinkedIn getting pretty much destroyed in the comments, top comment being from our own @GeneralCorp
I'll start by saying that I totally empathize. Getting solicitation calls on your cellphone can be draining. BUT... it's really common, especially post-pandemic, that the phone number us sales folks are getting from ZoomInfo, Apollo, etc. is someone's personal cell. Office lines basically don't exist anymore. Something these people probably don't understand without some context into how sales orgs work.
I know we've all had the classic "How did you get my cell phone number?" responses when cold calling. How do you normally respond when posed with that question/situation? Generally, I'm pretty transparent and try to bring a bit of levity to the situation.
"Didn't realize this was your cell, I'm just calling the numbers on my screen."
"I gotta be honest, I got this number from a database..."
I'll try to work an apology in there as well, but always go for the ask regardless.
Would be interested in hearing your best practices!
