It's been rough out there for a few years now. No longer is it a mutual relationship of 'I need a job, you're hiring, let's do this'.
It seems now that you have to put on this dog and pony show just to even get the attention of a hiring manager. Your skills/education don't seem to even get your foot in the door anymore.

FFS it used to be "why are you qualified for this role" now it's "why do you deserve to breathe our air"

I had a recruiter reach out to me and said I was a great fit for the AE role they were hiring for. But that to be considered I'd have to fill out their job application, and the first question on the application was "why are you a good fit for this role?"

Usually I sound like the grumpy old man shouting "get off my lawn", but not this time.
"Nobody wants to work anymore", "nobody has a work ethic", "kids are lazy these days". All statements that every generations says about the one underneath them.
We have 3& GDP growth, sub 4% unemployment and more teenagers are working part time jobs than in the last 50 years.
Maybe people just don't want to work for you?
