Personally, I'm a fan of tying earnings directly to what's brought in.

% attainment is where multipliers come in.

quota attainment can be somewhat arbitrary from year to year so I would prefer % of the Deal.

Oh wait, I read somewhere now that there are bots here that are putting in polls because they get more traction.

I had no idea. 😅 I put polls because I assumed they are easier for users to just click their opinion away as opposed to typing it out.

Still learning about this tribe. 🌚

% attainment models often leave the door open for them to screw their reps by just increasing the quotas at any time (assuming there isn’t a protection in place laying out stipulations to increasing quotas). It can work in your favor if quotas are set lower than they should be but that’s often short lived.

I’ve been in that position where I was producing at 150%+ then got hit with a 50% increase in my quota (reasoning is a highly desirable feature rolled out and they felt like the higher quota was easily attainable).

To me, that is capping your “uncapped” commissions.

I have had both.

and % of deal  is SOOOO much better. its a million times easier to calculate for everyone.

and I would have multipliers come in at certain thresholds.

IE:
0 - 50K = 6%
%51k - $80 = 8%
or what ever numbers you wanna punch in there.

Should the total value of multi-year SaaS deals count towards your current year quota?

Are your comms paid on MRR rather than annual contract value?

Question

FEELINGS- Your commission is annual (ARR) but the customer paid monthly (MRR) and if there is a churn in the next few months, the company will deduct by increasing your quota and taking the equivalent amount $$ from your quota in the next month.
