pen and paper or ipad

I bought an iPad Pro a few months ago that literally just collects dust on my desk. I can't seem to break away from using pen and paper. Something about it just clicks better in my head than taking notes on the iPad.

What's everyone's preference, old school or tech? All my coworkers think I'm crazy still using a pen and paper.

For those pen guys out there, what's your go to? Uniball Vision's are always my go to

Read online that writing something by hand helps you understand and remember it better. I like doodling too, so paper for me.

I've heard that too, first time had to be 15+ years ago. It always made me wonder though whether that's because the people they were studying grew up handwriting, versus younger generations that grew up typing...

Fair point. Would be interesting to see a comparison in another few years

that's how I've always felt. if I type something or write it on a tablet I don't remember it at all. Writing it locks it into my brain

I have color coded college ruled notebooks. I find writing helps me retain information better.

I record most of my calls.

Otherwise I use pen and paper then transcribe into CRM.

My calls are supposed to be recorded in Gong but it's never worked for me. And I've never cared enough to reach out to IT about getting it fixed

Wow, respect. I'm not patient enough for that.

I have a digital note pad on one screen, when the calls done I just can copy/paste into CRM.

Pen n Paper any day. Gives me a much more rich feeling that I've created something. Even if it's a grocery list.

with my ADHD paper and pen is just a fucking disaster hahah.

I take a bunch of notes on Google docs.
But not that I am meeting with ppl in person I HATE using google docs because it feels like you cant tell if im on email or not......and then i start coming over to WR.

so I am getting a Super Note tablet. thing is dope.

and wicked expensive, thankfully my company is paying for it

Is that the type that allows you to write on the pad and it's transcribed to digital automatically? That sounds perfect.

i dont know if it does that now. If it doesnt its a feature being released soon.

i use to take digital notes on an Ipad with a stylis for that exact purpose but the transcription was never accurate enough that it slowed me down.

I got this one because all of my notes for everything in life can be in one place and I can find it easily.

oh i did. ive been doing research on this for weeks haha

i first started out wanting the Remarkable 2.

but after learning more about the Supernote, i liked that the tips of the pens wouldnt wear down, the organizing of notes is easier, and they seem to be making better improvements to it.

I also hate the subscription part of remarkable haha

LOVE my ReMarkable 2. Saves all my notes to the cloud and still has the same feel as a pen/paper. Perfect for me.

its the most important piece of tech i own.

I use it for soooooo many things its crazy.

I have allll my different ideas in there, plans for different non work related projects, work notes, meeting notes, calendars, ect.

all in one place. its the best.

if you can get your company to pay for it do it.

Pen and paper.  I transcribe the important points plus my observations into the CRM.

Teams also provides transcripts from meetings, so I scan those as well to make sure I accurately captured all follow up.

Yes, I do remember things happening best when I write them down.  Where the note can be found on the page, what side of the folio...yep.   It helps me pay attention, too.

same. taking notes helps me focus and not end up playing solitaire on my phone or something. I usually put a bare minimum into salesforce. Just enough to keep my manager off my back. Yep, I'm that guy lol

Definitely pen and paper. I enjoy the creative aspect of it too actually, like journaling in a sense. But this journaling leads to money making.

So easy to write down on the notepad next to my computer for follow up questions and any action items I need to take after the call

Evernote, so neither?

I type our all my notes during zoom calls. I guess I'm able to multi task? I also usually have some questions prepped so it's not distracting.

In person meetings? Legal pad.

Check out a remarkable 2 tablet. Feels just like paper + pen but has a cloud app for syncing stuff.

Changed my life. Bit expensive at $350-400 but my company paid for mine.

I usually use my second monitor and type there. If it's in person, then pen and paper all the way.

Yup. I had the same flow. I have been looking and researching for quite some time and finally pulled the trigger. It’s a very cool, easy to use product. It’s not quite the same as flipping through pages of notes. So one might miss the dexterity of doing that– however, overall the pen works great and it feels like you’re writing on paper.

I use pen and paper fairly consistently just for my own sanity.  I have had to many times that our operating system has crashed in the middle of something and I have lost my work or notes from a meeting and I don't need any other reasons to look like a fool.

I use Gong for client calls which is a big help.

For organizing my thoughts and for the theatrical aspect of note taking (“what you said was super profound Mrs Customer, let me write that down.“) I use an iPad pro with a screen cover that adds a paper feel + Nebo.

It’s the best.
