[POLL] When do you get paid?

I work in IT, so the semiconductor shortage has delayed our shipping timelines. I don't get paid until an order ships. I'm curious how other companies approach payment?

With lead times up to 13 weeks, I'm a little nervous about upcoming commission checks...

When does a sale hit your commission check?

Same. It kind of sucks because due to the nature of my product, an agreement can be signed today but they don't actually start getting invoiced until three months from now...and I get paid when their cheque gets cashed. I understand the reasoning from the company's side but it does suck to not get paid for a deal you did in January until mid April.

I get paid as soon as they're invoiced (same day the agreement is signed)

That seems so much more reasonable to me given how out of my control ship times are. Thanks for sharing!

I see the commission on my dashboard as soon as the service start date hits.

I get paid when the client pays, which is annoying if the elect to have quarterly billing. Splits commission up into 4 chunks over a year

I work in SAAS. We work with an annual agreement and I get paid after the buyer has made two payments. If the buyer decides to not make four payments then I have a clawback.

It's not fun.

wow that's rough!  I work in SaaS too but haven't heard of that.  Do you know if that's common practice?

We get paid on a percentage of annual contract value (ACV) as soon as the customer signs.  For instance if they sign up for a 5 year term for $200K a year, the sales rep gets paid a percentage of $200K which hits the next commission check

That would be very nice. I've argued with them about this a lot but they don't care to change.

A year ago we had a big blowup because they changed commission pay dates without telling the team. They changed it from the 5th to the 20th of each month. A lot of people that didn't have the money put away really struggled that month.

The War Room has been teaching me a lot about just how rough my company is on sales.

I get paid once the invoice has been paid in full- which becomes annoying with split payment terms, they might pay half now and half 90 days later... I get paid 90 days later.

our product has 2 components: Licenses and implementation. Once my company receives the paid invoice at the beginning and end of the project.
