POSH policy!?

The Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH)

Today our company had conducted a mandatory meeting to explain this policy. I know it is needed and I appreciate doing so. But my AE and a few other men's found the presentation that lady(an outside socialist) showed and the way she addressed it was awful. They felt she was biased and she being too touchy on subjective points trying to prove that men should behave...

I personally find it unempathetic while addressing to both genders.

Do you have such policy at workplace? Even remotely? ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

I mean a person who is running the NGO and our company is using her to present the issue and policy details

But what does that mean by "outside socialist"?

Do you mean "socialist" = "someone who presents and socializes the material"?

If so, understand that "socialist" in the Western world has an entirely different connotation and has extreme political inference at this point in time.

That makes a lot more sense. Thanks for clarifying.

Here, these trainings are usually provided by large consultancies who specialize in this kind of mandated session, and is far less likely to be provided in person. It's usually online learning in the US.

While he clarifies further down, it seems questionable given socialist is a pretty commonly defined term.

Also why go on the rant in the first place?

OK, the tone of this post aside, several US states and at least a couple of cities require anti-sexual harassment training.

If you work for a US company, you may very well have to take this training. And I caution you to completely absorb it and abide by what you are taught.

Not complying either with the training or the actual substance can be grounds for termination.

I am aware of it but looks like some folks are not. They surely need to adhere to this policy

The fact that they were acting this way when confronted with the issue just shows how ignorant they are and itโ€™s part of the problem - so yes clearly someone noticed there is an issue on your office and this type of training is needed

These โ€˜menโ€™ need to take a long look in the mirror. Stop this crap and let people work in a safe environment

1. well there are a few things at play, she probably was biased. but we are all biased wether we realize it or not.

2. in the MAJORITY of cases (not all cases) its the MEN doing the bad shit. so having men be the focus is not BAD its just statistically accurate.

3. im not surprised that a bunch of dudes were upset......

we have an anti harassment policy that covers all forms of work place harassment.

The policy should be straight forward and simple. Not sure what an outside socialist is... Either way, the presentation should be based on the policy, and personal stories and biases should not be included. Was there a slideshow or did she just wing it? Most companies and government positions have a zero tolerance policy, and some even have annual training. It's nothin' to mess with. Reminds me of the recent post regarding F#ck Around and Find Out.
