Public vs Private Sales ๐Ÿ’ฐ

Been lumped into Public Sector because I was the first person to make a government sale at our company! Pre-series A start up. One man AE/AM team.

I think the skillset is the same? Although, sales cycle seems pretty long 12+ months. The one thing that is challenging is the tendering and procurement side of things.ย 

Will it be difficult to move back to Private later in my career?ย

I think if you can be successful selling in public sector at a startup then private should be a breeze.

Sales is sales! Itโ€™s not easy selling to the public sector so I think you would be good if you ever wanted to move back to the private sector. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

If you can cut your teeth in a tough, long sales cycle. Any sector or market will happy to have you back public/private/govt/financial services etc.ย

Iโ€™ve heard procurement is a nightmare in public sector. Like more of a nightmare than the rest of us deal with. God speed my friendโ€ฆIโ€™m sure private sector will take you back if you ever want to make that leap.
