Reasonable Salaries (Europe version)

Living in a large city in Europe (Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris, London, Stockholm, Or similar), what is a reasonable base salary for an account executive/account manager with around 5 years of experience?

Note: This post was inspired by another post from someone else in the War room who has made the US version (Thank you).

europe salaries are way less than US and taxes 45% or so - i see AE roles at my company in england pay a base of 45k GBP and in the US 70k USD - taxes being lower in US

That's a significant difference. A lot more vacation, sure. But so much less money

The healthcare is not really that universal. Most public healthcare is terrible, most people with who care go private which is not free.

Yeah I mean the public healthcare in england is awful to the point that when I'm sick I don't even bother calling up my GP because its a waste of time. They will let you die in hospital corridors & waiting rooms. Pay through the nose for it in taxes too.
I don't use it now because my employer provides me with private health insurance but guess what - I have to PAY TAX on this benefit. Its one thing to pay tax for something I don't use, but this is paying tax BECAUSE I don't use something. Clowns.
Universal healthcare isn't free and the quality like most government things sucks

Yes, this seems to be being misinterpreted though, the universal health care piece. I say this as in the states you don’t have that option and you have to pay for health insurance. So it impacts the “earnings”

£45k GBP is $56k USD at the moment - you'll get significantly more PTO which is invaluable in my opinion (4-5 wks/yr). Thankfully more US companies are adopting this. I'm over the days of 1 week per year then AcCrUiNg PTO per month. It's such BS.

with only the info you provided, I clicked $60-70k, but there are many variables which would need to be considered in a final valuation. In the end though, you need to know your value and be able to convince a company you're worth every "euro" of it.

European salaries vary a lot. Ireland, Netherlands, London, some central European cities pay a lot because housing is unaffordable otherwise. Nordic enjoy a lot of social benefits. Eastern Europe, Southern Europe much lower salaries. So you can't really mesh all of Europe together in one poll on salaries.

Nordics also have high housing costs. Nowadays bigger cities (London, Barcelona, Paris, Amsterdam) are getting closer to each other in terms of costs due to gentrification and inflation.

Really depends on industry, but I would assume 70k€+ minimum with 5 years of solid Tech experience

Valid conundrum as I've also been in this spot as an EU AE.

What I've noticed is most established US orgs hire AE's only in larger EU capitals. While base pay is not significantly more than what you would earn when you live outside of these larger cities selling for local EU businesses. However, there is a trade-off as US orgs usually tend to have more structure, knowledge, and upside in career advancement.

At the same time, I also know reps who live in Eastern Europe (where the avg salary is €1500-2000/m) with a great track record in fintech selling on behalf of Nordic companies and making €100k base, 200k OTE 🤯

Bigger orgs have fixed ranges. With startups and scaleups it's all about what you're able to bring to the table and negotiate.

Interesting, would love to know what Nordic companies are paying €100k as a base? Because to me it sounds really rare.

Early-stage Nordic fintechs with big VC monies in the bank $$$. I guess it's a matter of talent and what you're able to negotiate for yourself.

However, the employee will most likely be a contractor through Remote, Deel, etc. platform (so one has to cover all taxes from that pov)
