Recruiters

can some on help me understand what's happening with these recruiters.   i have had two reach out to me from the same company offering the same job , email was copy and paste. one of them reached out to my work email.  i have never provided them with that email and we have communicated via email on my personal email.  why would they do that?
that seems a bit aggressive no?

@storeboughtguac: Recruitment works like the SDR / Lead gen function today. They're incentivized on 1 or more of the following:

1) Number of interviews scheduled ( for SDR : this would be meetings scheduled with prospects)

2) Number of candidates moving to a next round ( for SDR : this would be an opportunity moving down the funnel)

3) Number of candidates hired ( for SDR: opps closed won)

Many recruiters these days also have a target of "number of cold calls" to be made to candidates every single day.

Sending a recruiting email to the work one is pretty aggressive

It’s so disrespectful. My work emails are HEAVILY monitored - there has been a Mass exodus with my company

Have you ever applied there? Maybe accidentally sending your work email when applying on LinkedIn.

Not saying it’s right but curious if that is what happened

Not at all. They have reached out and got all shady when I asked what company it was for - they wouldn’t provide it to me unless I provided my resume. And even then - why would I apply through my work email. I don’t even have my work email linked with ANYTHING. How they got it is beyond me - I mean it is my [email protected] - not hard to figure out. The only thing I could figure is it came from a former coworker who has moved on and offered it to them - but still I don’t think so

Sounds like they were actually supposed to be in sales with that amount of research capabilities.

I mean I have experience in my very small pool of candidates. I even send them an email letting them know how disrespectful it was.

They are making cold calls without doing research. Not anyone I'd want to work with for sure.

Agreed. I'm also NOT a fan of recruitment messages to work emails.

I don’t know if sending an unsolicited email to your work email is necessarily a bad thing. And it’s easy to figure out what someone’s work email is.

It would be better for them to reach out to you via LinkedIn, if no personal email is listed anywhere.

The kicker is we have communicated via my personal email a month earlier.

Than it is probably not Recruiter’s fault, if it looks like a copy and paste email. It’s probably similar to an SDR cadence email

yes it is is aggressive . and they are sales ppl too homie. just trying to make shit happen. id let them know you have two ppl talking to you. and if you want to learn more, go with the one who hit you up first.

I definitely let them know. But they crossed the line. They never even responded back to me -

I have no doubt they figured out your work email based on how straightforward it is. They may have even tried a few formats which bounced.

Are you at all interested in working for this company?

I don’t even know what the company is. They handed me a vague description of the position - but won’t give me more details unless I send them my resume - which I did last week and a month ago !!! And still haven’t gotten the company name. I don’t want to do business with these people - period.

I've had one organization in particular I interviewed with in the past and said no to, have different recruiters reach out to me both via linkedin and work email with generic messages. No clue as to why they do it, but its easy to see which recruiters put some effort into their outreach versus others who copy and paste all day.

They reached out talking about hot sauce and tacos. Definitely looking for a type of people to connect with. I thought they were different until I got the same email.

It's super easy to find someone's work email (plenty of tools for it online or they can get the format from an email they already have).

I used to recruit and for every angry "HOW DARE YOU EMAIL ME HERE" message I would get, there would be a follow-up email from their personal email apologizing and asking about the job details, haha

I responded back. I don’t want to work with them. Especially when we’ve been communicating otherwise.

I was actually considering this. I’m not trying to get anyone in trouble or to lose their jobs. But this is beyond ok. I did respond to her and told her that it was unprofessional. And she hasn’t responded.
