I think the longest I went without hearing back (but not being ghosted) was like 8 months WAY back.

I have been ghosted for about a year now. "We are ready to implementtttt, yayyy send me the contract" and the moment the contract hit their inbox, they said "Oh you dead to me".

I have only ever worked with a recruiter once. Wasnโt pleasurable. Since then, I have just had a running list of network connections in case I need to jump ship.
That's the best route, though there are some good ones out there. They're just hard to find

Lol this has happened to me so much recently, I was very supportive to most of them back in the hot market and even passed on leads. Today? Crickets ๐คท๐ฝโโ๏ธ
I ended up reaching out to one of their bosses, who refered me back to the recruiter for a call. Used it as a chnace to explain how Iโm decent at prospecting and โgetting my foot in the doorโ lol :-)

I hate recruiters sometimes. Talked to a guy yesterday "oh they're looking to hire in the next 30 days, so you've gotta be ready to jump". Ended up reaching out to the hiring manager directly and he set up a call but opened with "we're always looking for good people, but we're not actively recruiting at the moment". Somebody is lying, and I have a feeling it ain't the boss.
Ugh why canโt they just tell the truth and manage expectations
