Retail Sales to Tech Sales: How To?

My buddy is looking to get out of retail and into a remote role.

He's been crushing it in luxury fashion for 10 years, but is tired of the in-person slog and wants to take his sales experience in a new direction.

Any advice on how to start digging into a remote sales role, tech or otherwise?

I have friends that do that. The physical work it takes to do these shows - whew it exhausts me just listening to it. LOL

I made that transition after college. Was brutal. Took me around a year to land my first BDR gig. The stigma is very real when it comes to retail workers. I even have a little bias being a Biz Dev Manager. The talent pool is so strong these days. I’ll be tough land a tech sales job without previous SaaS experience.

A couple of courses and certifications as a foundation, word of mouth, referrals and a solid resume: LinkedIn would be the best friend to help them seek a new job in this industry.
If they are looking to start small, they can look at a fractional role as well from Flex or platforms like that.
