If youโ€™re in that burn out spiral, you are obligated to take care of yourself. Hard to conjure up a recommended path without having your career context, but if youโ€™re feeling hopelessly out of balance , you have to restore.

I agree, I think we all feel this at some point. Given that itโ€™s a pressure job; canโ€™t really rely on Economies for mental health.

Even in the worst of markets, amazing startups get formed. There will always be a risk no matter what the market looks like.

If you feel that you need a break, take it. Or at least take a week off, get organised, make plans and start at it again.

yeah i would be nervous about that for sure. but try taking a long vacation. can you use all your PTO at once? chat with your boss about what you need figure out a way to make it work. a whole year off is a massive amount of time.

Agreed a year is a lot , maybe 6 months out and then I start looking which can take 2-3 quarters.

Not sure I would do that. Maybe take a solid few weeks off and just unplug. Why drain savings and shit when you can keep going and just retire young. Draining money now is risky. If you were to keep working and just invest that money instead of blow it you could probably have a few million bucks and retire younger once itโ€™s compounding over many years.

Take some PTO first then see how you feel. schedule trips months in advance so that you have something to look forward every quarter. It could be a small 3-day weekend or a longer trip sprinkled in.

Energy matters so much in sales.

My plan: save 60k, keep my reselling side hustle going, then quit and try reselling full time.

Iโ€™m forecasting to be able to do this early Jan-March next year if all goes well. Would be really nice to not have constant pressure from above while also using my selling skills to network with suppliers and form relationships that actually matter to me.

A bunch of items - clothing, shoes, bin store/liquidation items. Source most of my items at liquidation stores or at retail outlets like Burlington.
Eventually, looking to get into wholesale by building contacts with suppliers/manufacturers. This is where sales would come in...much more interesting to me at this point than corporate life.
But hey, gotta stick it out. Not quite ready to make the switch yet, so back to the grind it goes.

Nice. Go vintage at all or just new items found at steep discounts?

Vintage has been very difficult for me to get into because it requires deep product knowledge that isn't necessarily based on data.
For that reason alone, I've stayed clear. But, somewhere down the line, could be a potential to go in that direction. Just would require years and years of expertise.

Try taking som vacation and un plug. If that doesnโ€™t work maybe itโ€™s the company or job? Regardless put yourself first always, god knows most companies wonโ€™t.

It's been a bit rough but I have some really good deals in the pipeline. Take some holidays, limit news and social media, go for walks, go to gym. Best thing you can do is work on yourself

Often people will take some time off their career and go back to school. Go get an MBA or something like it.

Have you checked with your company to see what they would be willing to do? If they like you and all they may say hey we understand, take 6 months, and then come back refreshed. Of course the understanding would be they aren't paying you for that time.

you 100% need to take care of yourself, and take some time to do so.

I'd suggest you aim for a vacation and some mental health days before taking a whole year off, it can be tough to recover from that.

Is your role remote? Is there a way that you can juggle both so you don't feel so overwhelmed / burnt out?
