SDR to CSM

maybe you can't tell me which company you gained the best training/insight by name but I'd appreciate any details on how to make the leap from SDR to CSM

what skills did you highlight?
hearing a lot in videos that CSM certs are unnecessary, what's your take on it?
did you get better training on the job or did you upskill somewhere before applying?
any details help

No AMs just CSS and CSM and they’re split into renewals and expanders, I’ve reached out and getting to know him.

I’m uncertain of the future of the company tbh I’ve survived multiple layoffs and want to target more solid companies with products that are in higher demand

OK, but you still have those people as resources for now, to find out the skills and capabilities they find important to their jobs. Those are the things you should be highlighting in any job search.
As for certs? I have no idea what's offered for CSM/CSD/AM, and even so, I am not sure most of those ultimately matter. Having a lot of soft skills around customer management and a desire for customer success will be what I suspect will be most important. However, I'm not a CSD, so take that as an opinion and not the voice of authority on the matter.

Of course. I'm sure you'll get more - it's late for the east coast folks.

Use your network at your current company and utilize your product knowledge and success

Externally, will be tougher since those roles dont require outbound

I think these certs are indeed unnecessary

Is this a role you can move into at your current company? Are there CSDs or AMs at your current company to talk to and discuss how they got to their role?
I ask because making a move in your current company may be an easier path, as you should already have an idea of the solution or product you sell, as well as a way to tap into the resources (the people in the roles) already so you can ask them about their career paths and what they think is important, as well as learn about their day to day.

Like others are saying, I don't think certifications are necessary. That being said, it's a pretty big jump. CSM is usually a strategic/analytical role, and very different from SDR.
You need a compelling story as to why you can make that transition, especially if it's external. CSMs go deep and and narrow, SDRs go shallow and broad
