Who the fuck keeps telling people they want perks over pay?! Iโ€™m a millennial and this is stupid as hell.

Keep the kombucha, vegan snacks, ping pong, etc and just pay me more.ย

This seems like propaganda to condition people to stop asking for raises and fair wages IMO.ย

What if the perks are cases of Coors? ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ

Hmm. Assuming I get a case per day, I would entertain $18.95 less in salary / day which is basically the equivalent. Otherwise Iโ€™ll just take my above market salary and go to the store myself and bring my own for lunch in my lunch box

This is probably a common sentiment for non-salespeople who are at work for a cushy salary and to put in the least amount of effort possible but no salesperson I know would prefer perks over a better OTE. We're all in this for the money.ย

Salespeople who just want a cushy salary and kombucha on tap should be strapped to a train car and shipped directly over to marketing or client success. It's for their own good.

Couldnt agree more I dont join companies for perks. I go somewhere thats going to pay me above market for my work so I can spend on whatever perks I care about. Id rather you pay me more than give me access to catered lunches.ย

Loooool, tell us about it.

Hand on my heart, Iโ€™ve been saying this since I was 15. The ONLY good thing about my generation, is theyโ€™re all such a bunch of whiny pussies, competing with them is SOOO easy.

Itโ€™s like wiping the floor with the baby whoโ€™s candy I just took. ย But between, hiring, training, and dating these cowards.. enough to make a man tear his hair out.

Which millennials did they ask?ย  ย It's a broad brush, and most likely includes the folks who literally live at the office and never go home because they have no lives.ย  Perks would mean a lot more to those people than it would to those with other things going on.

Also, sales orgs ALWAYS are divergent.ย  ย Employee plans that make sense for others never seem to work for SEs, such as weeks long sabbaticals, which is going to make any non-comp-related perk anathema to savages.

I used to care about perks when I was in an office. Now that Iโ€™ve been WFH for a while, I just want more money.
And maybe better insurance.

so at face value I agree with you.ย

but if you look at other shittier jobs pay is not always the answer.ย

I can think of a few jobs that I had in the past that if they offered other perks/improved the working environment I would have stayed longer.ย

but for me and most sales people....just pay me.ย

I would take WFH over a **slight** increase in compensation, but not much.ย  However, I do love working from home though - no commute, great home office, much more productive, make my own hours, no one monitoring my every move, etc...ย  I guess I would have to see the offer to make the decision.

Amen, if perks mean youโ€™ll pay for all my bills and what I get paid after that I get to save or spend as I see fit great! If not, those arenโ€™t perks.

Who the hell wants less pay over perks?ย  "Perks" to me mean a good work life balance, competitive base pay and OTE, awesome healthcare benefits and the freedom to work from wherever I want. Which yeah, I would want those. I don't care about cold brew on tap or pool tables in the breakroom.ย

"perks" should always be in addition to pay.

But this ofc most likely refers to anyone but IC's.ย
