Should I stay or go

I've been in sales for about 2 years now.

Started as an SDR for a small company, 80-100 cold calls a day to set meetings. Did pretty well, got let go as the company experienced hardship.

After 6 weeks of job searching, I landed a position with a large payroll company. In the interviews, they made it seem like there would be lots of referrals given to me to primarily work with some sales to current clients and some prospecting. I am finding the leadership culture in my division is tough to connect with. I got hired in October but the first 3 weeks were basically do it my self study on company culture, the next 8 weeks were training where they phased in additional channels as training progressed.

Turns out, all the relationships need to be built. Nothing is as they described and they are treating me like I am their 14 year veteran as far as expectations to hit goal and to be up and running even though the top agents (when highlighted) openly admit this post takes 2 years of blood sweat and tears to make into a decent position.

I really appreciate my direct coworkers, but struggle with the management and their opinions of how to do sales. Traction is slight but I don't feel like I am in the place or mindset to really take on this job that has lots of complex policies to juggle (internally and externally), competition amongst other sales divisions over the same leads and other issues I can foresee being a headache.

I am in contact with another company that I would be doing similar work as I preferred based on my first sales position. Thing is, it would be a hair cut to start based on starting salary. Easy to make up the difference based on my understanding of the commission structure but easier for me to leave at work when I am off the clock and not carry stress back home to the family in the off time. Overall, probably less potential than working with the major player in payroll but less stress.

How should I decide if I try to stick it out in the large company or seek out greener grass in another position I feel like I can wrap my head around easier?

This has been said in other posts, but it's rare that the "sticking it out" method ever works. You're probably going to be more miserable than you are now come the one year mark if the culture at this company is what you describe.

Obviously this is a personal decision, but since you're asking for advice, I'd say chart your course for calmer waters. You'll thank yourself later.

if this company is Paycore you should leave hahah.

This is a sign of a company that knows EXACTLY what they are doing. Paying you a good enough base that you put up with all the shit.

I will never blame ppl for going where they can make the most money. But i would punt and go to a place where you wont hate your life.

Its never hurts to start interviewing. Just because you start interviewing doesn't mean you are going to leave. However, then you can see if the grass is actually greener.

Highly recommend being more critical of companies you are interviewing at and back-channeling so you aren't just told the perfect story before switching

I have an interview with a company that I met with when I originally lost my job. The only thing about these guys is I interviewed twice, hiring manager the the VP and when I spoke with the VP, I asked what time lines were that they were looking to hire and he just said, "just looking for the right people, no particular time line.."

They reached out to me 8 weeks later before I got into the thick of it in the new job and I wasn't ready to try making shifts with out spending some more time to see it through better.

Sounds like you already know what you'd like to do - and it doesn't sound like leaving is a bad idea, as long as you follow Kosta's advice and back channel so that you make sure that what you're being told is what's actually going on. Remember that you took this job based on what they told you as well, and things were different than what you were told.

I did not read till the end - the only reason being: If you have doubted so much whether or not to leave, just leave. Sticking around makes you bitter with work and you lose your skill.
