Square AE vs LinkedIn AE

Me and a friend have this dilema, which company you would work for as an account executive ? would you say that square is more pure tech sales? thanks!

Square is payment processing hardware and software. LinkedIn is a digital cesspool. You make the call.

I agree. Payment processing is a GRIND though. Got my start there many moons ago.

What you mean is a grind?

It's tough. Square has good tech, but it'll come down to processing costs. There are so many options out there, so you're up against a lot of competitors. You might lose a deal over a few basis points, and depending on the market you're going after you talk to A LOT of unsophisticated SMB buyers.

DMs for merchants that aren't larger corporations with an HQ are hard to get a hold of.

You are right. LinkedIn is more selling marketing or recruiting services. Square is closer to payments and pay tech. Depends on the group really. So we need more details.

Is there an offer on the table for either? If not, look elsewhere. There are real tech companies out there.

Conditions are better in LinkedIn, office perks, food, big HQ, Square is fully remote, equal pay than LinkedIn but the product to sell, software , sounds more attracting for my cv

Personally - LinkedIN. Reason? LinkedIN is not expendable while Square is.

Square has a number of competitors. Klarna, PayPal, Lightspeed, Toast, Shift4 come to my mind immediately. LinkedINs competitors are nonexistent. There is no platform like LinkedIN, nor will there be for a long time as they have completely monopolized the market.

My only drawback would be that, as a result, the pay might be lower for a LinkedIN AE as itโ€™s such an easy product to sell/everyone already uses it.
