SVP Sales Role -- Would you as a candidate follow-up in this scenario?

Even though I've been on both sides, sometimes it's tough to see the forest for the trees when it is your own situation. Would really appreciate your thoughts!

I am interviewing for a SVP Sales role.

I've gone through the gamut and interviewed with most of the exec team (1x each) as well as the CEO (2-3x) who is the hiring manager.

Very good feedback so far.

I know they are interviewing others. They've shared that.

Two weeks ago, the CEO and I caught up and I had an opportunity to recap all of the interviews I had with the exec team, and the CEO also used that opportunity to ask me some more strategic questions, which based on her feedback, I answered well.

The CEO was clear about needing to go through the usual internal motions and also shared that she will be traveling for a couple days, but that she would get back to in two weeks.

The two week mark is today.

Part of me wants to demonstrate that I can perform the basic and important sales responsibility of following up in a tactful, tasteful way (since I would be leading the sales org).

Part of me doesn't want to appear overzealous or desperate... and maybe wait until tomorrow or Monday.

What do you all think?

Thanks!

You’re obligated to follow up. That’s the expected minimum. But, for the love of Linda Yaccarino, don’t just give her the minimum. Come back over the top like the sales org savior you are. Give her a new idea, one she’s never considered. Make her think. Make her laugh. Get the gig.

If both of you are laughing in an interview, 60% of the job is done.

I’d say follow-up on Friday, not necessarily she’ll revert today but at least she’ll get the weekend or Monday to get back to you.

Monday’s are busy, the week is busy. So…

Best of luck!!

Given that she said she would follow up in two weeks it is the perfect setting to follow up with her tomorrow with the fact that you are cognizant of the timelines you make and want to be sure to demonstrate attention to detail.

Fridays are better days to hit a ceo vs Mondays. If over 2 week tomorrow would be a good day. Do not use words ‘follow up’. Say something along lines of ‘really excited about this opportunity and am interested to hear next steps when possible’. You after all are in sales still so still need to demonstrate strong assumptive close.

Follow-up not just to follow-up (Don't be basic)

Follow-up about everything you've spoken about and a rough draft of the next 90 days. List the top priorities on your side, how you'll tackle them, and what gaps you see. (What support you'll need)
Restate your excitement and how you are the best fit to solving their current and future problems

THIS^ is how you do a follow-up
