The voicemail blues

How do you guys handle cold calling with voicemails picking up? I know for it's annoying lol, and honestly I don't like talking through voicemails it just seems so much easier speaking to an actual person. So sometimes I don't leave a message I just try to back later that day or setup a callback for the next. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ

"...There's no need for you to call me back. I'm about to hit send on an email to you with the subject line "just called".

Whether or NOT you're interested in learning more, please let me know. I certainly don't want to be a pest with my follow up.

This is Nick Cegelski with 30 Minutes to President's Club."

I make this my own, but this is from

Been doing this for a few months.

Never get the call back. The open rate on the email is solid. Working on that reply rate.

There is no silver bullet, but feel like its a better option than other voicemails since i never got a call back from those

Oh yea, Iโ€™m all about this approach.

I donโ€™t think Iโ€™ve ever expected a call back from a voicemail.

Just calling attention to a well thought out email feels way more natural

That's a challenge we all face,if being called multiples and still no response though, most probably that means that the prospect is not responding to numbers he doesn't know so you can flip your strategy to send an email instead..

I'd leave a voicemail after a few other steps have been taken. The process that works for me: I connect on LinkedIn first.. send a LI message about a week later (if they accept); then I send an e-mail if they don't respond to my LI message. Still no response? I try calling them. If they don't pick up, I set up a call about a week later. If I get voicemail a second time, I leave a message. This way, they know who you are at this point (or should) and you may have better luck getting a call back. At the very least, they know you are going to be persistent. It takes many touches in my experience before I get a response of any kind. My advice? Don't give up before trying all of these steps. After I have exhausted all of these steps and I get nothing from them.. I set them up in my follow-up for 6 months to a year. Just because they don't respond NOW, doesn't mean they never want to talk to you. Timing is everything. Certainly, if they reach out and tell you to stop, STOP.

I follow up immediately with an email. I reference the email on the voicemail, and reference the voicemail in the email.

remember what the purpose of a cold call is: to get an appointment. When we keep focused on the purpose, our success increases. too often we 'spill our guts' on a cold call, voicemail, and even emails. unless your audience has some relationship to you, like a Microsoft and SI partner, we need to keep the purpose of the call the purpose of the call.
I love the idea below form Kosta, but again, when sending that email, remember what you are asking for. and get to the point:

"My name is bob form ABC company, and the purpose of this call (email) is to request a meeting for 10-15 minutes next week. I know that you get bombarded with meeting requests, so I will keep my meeting short and to the point. if you like what you hear, which I think you will, we can look for more time or talk about ways to educate you more about how can help you like we are helping, XYZ company in the same industry as you. does Tuesday morning of Wednesday afternoon work better?"
