Thinking of leaving sales and exploring other areas of the business. Anyone have suggestions?

Been feeling the grind and the fatigue of Sales lately. Still love the rush and the glory of closing a deal, but lately it's been getting kind of repetitive and not as much fun. Been exploring account management as well as customer success as options.

If you need to step away, then step away. Get a break, but you will come back itching to close that sale again.

Customer Success is just people bitching at you all the time - another form of grind. Account Management could be fun, maybe Sales Enablement?

You should read the Johnny Cash Biography by Greg Laurie. It's a really good read. Here's something that I learned - you can't really get off of amphetamines. You can get sorta clean, and you can be functional, but getting really sober is next to impossible.

Go get another job for a while and get some perspective. You'll be back.

ohhhh the ole "i think i want to leave sales"

This has been talked about a number of times and really the options you mentioned are the ones with the easiest transitions.

BUT you have to be ok with having less earning potential, less flexibility and less control over your career.

So, a few things. Is it sales itself, or where you are working that is a grind? Some times, it's where you are rather than what you do, that is the issue. If you walk away from sales, you are most likely walking away from a higher earning potential. If this is not an issue, then exploring AM and CS could be a path. However, in those roles, you are typically focused on a specific set of customers, so if repetition is a problem for you, I suspect that AM and CS will quickly become tiresome too. However, you may want to take a look at what's out there and available, and make your own honest and personal assessments about what's going to be best for you.

Has massive growth ever led to mental breakdown? I have been hustling since 17 years old chasing to strive for success doing odd jobs and unintentionally ended up with Edtech K12 Sales as my first official sales job - A toxic culture with no employee respect eventually me to switch after 18 months. Since reps in Edtech are highly valued, had no option but to continue in Edtech sales. This time it was higher education segment, things looked good in the first few month but slowly it started adapting methodologies like the old Edtech since the management was changed. I decided to move out and switch to B2B SaaS. After 13 months of learning & success, my aspirations werenโ€™t matching with the growth vision shared by my manager and ended up being desperate to switch. Got to a AM-Inside Sales role with a 50% hike. Guess what? It led to my mental break down since the culture is pathetic. In entire journey, all challenges never affected my performance but l am losing the spark to glow and hustle eventually. While I plan to switch, a token of guilt is still alive. The experiences have made me far better and strong as a BDR but blank about the next steps in my career. Thanks for reading. Do share your thoughts.
