Top 5 Qualities I look for in a Modern Leader

Visionary: A modern leader should have a clear vision of where they want to take their organization and be able to articulate it to their team. They should be able to inspire their team to work towards that vision and be able to adjust it as needed.

Adaptable: A modern leader should be able to adjust their strategies and tactics to changing conditions. They should be able to recognize when something isn't working and be able to pivot quickly to a new approach.

Collaborative: A modern leader should be able to work with their team to develop solutions to problems. They should be able to listen to their team's ideas and be open to new ways of doing things.

Empathetic: A modern leader should be able to understand the needs of their team and be able to provide support and guidance. They should be able to recognize when someone is struggling and be able to provide the necessary resources to help them succeed.

Innovative: A modern leader should be able to think outside the box and come up with creative solutions to problems. They should be able to recognize opportunities and be able to capitalize on them.

gotta figure out the right questions and do your research! its easier if you are looking up a CEO/founder or high level VP but if its a director or lower....much harder

Humility is the biggest thing I look for. Some leaders pretend to know it all or think they are always right. Good ideas can come from anyone.

there isnt really anything "modern" about this. i would say these are things that have always made good leaders.

now the hard part is asking the right questions in the interview to know if your leader is this type of leader.

Well I have met a lot of "Legacy Mindset" leaders lately so the word modern sounded better than "What's need in current year"

Ask your new manager: what is their leadership brand? Great way to uncover mutual expectations, also you get a feel for their level of self-awareness and expertise

If someone asked me what my "leadership brand" was, I#d be going "What are you talking about Willis?"

It's a great way to share what your team can expect (and not expect) from you as their manager. First, important step for mutual expectation setting & building trust & earning respect. My brand is a coach for example
