Wait until next vesting period to resign?

I have a killer offer but work for a company with a decent stock plan. I have shared vesting soon, should I wait for my next vesting period to resign or is that a dick move?

Share your vesting schedule and amount vesting with the recruiter/hiring manager if there’s any need to push back your start date for your new offer. It’s a candidate’s market — they should either offer a signing bonus or let you push the start date to accommodate your vesting.

Vesting as in RSUs or Options?

Call me what you want, just sign the damn contract
-What's the value of those vesting options? -
-What's the difference between the financial gain in the scenarios?
-Are you going to lose the offer if you do this?

You think your company would worry about executing a "dick move" to you in a similar situation?  While I'd love to tell you the answer is know, I've been in enough executive meetings to know the opposite.  1) will the offer wait? Don't assume that because its a tough market to recruit that your new company will just jump through hoops for you (they may, but don't assume)  2) If you can wait it out, wait it out - you've put 90% of the time into the vesting, if your new gig can be patient, then take it the remaining 10%

Definitely, most companies won't think twice if they need to make cuts and your name comes up on the chopping block. While it's usually never good to burn bridges I don't think an employee owes any courtesy their employer wouldn't also offer if the tables were turned.

Depending on how much is vesting, you could negotiate a recoverable draw from the new company to take the job you want without missing out on the vesting

If you’re within 3 months I’d probably wait for it to vest personally.

What is the timeline for this? Vesting in 2 weeks is a lot different than end of next quarter. If its close, ya id wait. If not, ask for signing bonus or something but you might have to just bite the bullet if you love this new company.

not a dick move, people do it all the time. I was at a company that had a 2 year cliff. it became a common thing to have ppl leave at their 2 year mark right after they vested.
