Well Known University Sales Programs

Currently a senior in the Midwest (Go Gophs). Have been a member of the Sales team here for a number of years and our program is still pretty fresh. I was curious to see what are some of the more widely known national sales programs such as FSU and what their typical exit opportunities look like?

I went to school in Minnesota and live/work in Florida now. The exit opportunity is a boat and good weather here ๐Ÿ™Œ

They didn't exist when I was in college. Aside from a few entrepreneur classes.

Curious what the curriculum looks like.

I'm based on the twin cities too!

not the Twin Cities, but I worked in Mankato about 12-13 years ago.

Hey love seeing a fellow Minnesotan! Classes are a mix of sales management/role plays. There is also a sales team that travels to tournaments hosted by employers nationwide, which helped me land my last internship so I am pretty happy with it overall.

personally, I would NEVER advocate for anyone to get a University degree in Sales. So much of Sales & Selling can only be learned OTJ (hence the need for the BDR/SDR role).

I would tell anyone looking at Sales to get a technical degree of some sort (any Engineering degree, CS, Sciences, etc.). Its relatively easy to teach someone Sales 101 concepts but much harder to teach someone the hard sciences.

It's not a degree, it is basically a "certificate", that you add on to your degree. Although I have heard of some neighboring schools offering it as a major.

A person who is sociable, like-able with a technical/science degree can do very well in engineering or technical sales

Wondering if it's the same as the students who try to call me (an alumnus) to get money donated.

I can recall some have Sales as a degree, I believe Auburn and Baylor. I have heard 3M, local to MN why I mention it, target sales reps from their over UMN because of that

Sales team is definitely great. But try and get some internship experience if u can. U do real stuff and that speaks louder on your resume.

Most universities have business schools but to have sales as an actual degree is rare. My ex-company had a relationship with one of these sales schools which sounded promising in concept. I later found out that they used it as a replenishment farm because the turnover was startlingly high.

I don't believe in any sales university, truth be told. But then again, it's good to understand the framework and get going from there. It all would depend on your skillset and what you pick out of it.

Do you think sales should be taught at university in a similar construct to how marketing is delivered now?
