What are some of you favorite recruiter questions?

I have a few interviews coming up, although I do pretty well in the initial interviews. I'm curious, What questions do you guys like asking recruiters specifically ?

What made you come here & what makes you stay?

What do you see the future of the company looking like?

How is training structured? What does ramp up look like?

What percent of reps are hitting their number?

What’s my territory? How successful have previous reps been in that territory? What type of accounts fit our ICP and what’s the makeup of accounts in my territory?

Is there SDR support? How much? Are they dedicated to me or how is that structured?

What’s the ASP and average sales cycle?

There are so many ways you can branch out from here, but you get the idea.

Depends on if they’re external or internal. I usually don’t ask a ton of specifics for an external bc they won’t necessarily know numbers and stats, I save that for the Vp interview. Internal though I do often ask about AE quota/metric specifics but also overall company turn, culture, tenure and challenges they see.

Good point. The external recruiter is likely to know only the basics.

Ha! Yea, although I’ll say I’ve always had a better experience with external recruiters - they usually have a deeper understanding of sales and how to match to the right role.

So external recruiters are usually not selling ONE company, they're more a matchmaker. Internal recruiters are very honed in on candidates for their roles and company and definitely have a different outlook. I'd agree that external recruiters can be a lot better to deal with. They want to have a good pool of candidates as well as a good pool of companies.

What their turnover is like, how many reps hit quota, talk through the sales cycle, and are you considering internal hires for this position?

I am interested to know more about the onboarding and quota especially what % of reps achieve, what’s the avg tenure of an AE, do they often keep changing the quota/territory etc.

Timeline for hire, why is this role open, budget for the role, wfh/hybrid, what are the hidden benefits of working at x company

In my eyes, a recruiter is just the first step and usually only has entire company level insights, nothing specific to the sales teams. So with that, typically I ask questions about company culture, what makes them stay, and what they are looking for in a candidate for this role.

Some great answers on here. I agree it's definitely different when it's an external vs internal recruiter. Questions for the hiring manager are more important.

Good luck with the interviews!
