What does your desk face?

I am about to redo my office setup. I'm lucky that I have a room all to myself in my house. I have a chair with ottoman, couch, coffee table, water cooler, and desk. it's posh af.

That said I need to move things up because adhd.

I am thinking of having my desk open to like the back of the couch or something. idk. I have always had my desk face a wall, but I kind of like the idea of being like a robber baron of the 19th century and just owning the room with my desk in the middle.

video conference sight lines, lighting, acoustics will be dealt with in time. But for now I'm curious, do we all just stare at pixels and a wall or what?

My windows are at a 45 degree angle to me on both sides. It's nice not having them right in front of me. I get better light, can still see outside, but I'm not as distracted because it's not right in my direct line of sight.

My actual desk is a corner desk BUT with a window on my left and on my right, a huge wall to wall window on my deck.

However, I gave that room up during pandemic and migrated upstairs and now face a room - I have French doors behind me and I command the room and can see our windows at the front of the house to watch passers by.

Iโ€™m closer to the kitchen and coffee now. :)

Mine faces the door for the same reason I have to face the door whenever I sit down at a restaurant.

Somebody needs to write a post on 'how to still be polite to each other after seeing each other 24*7'. Blame remote jobs in this case, haha! :p

My wife and I shared an office for like six months. She said I talk to people too much and I should focus on real work. Lol.

I love the idea of being in the middle of the room, but the room I'm in isn't quite big enough, so wall it is..

My desk faces a wall with windows on either side. I've got a couch behind me that I keep pristine and then I have a 75 inch flatscreen on the back wall. This works for video conferences in that my room actually looks like a Zoom background, but I can also choose to turn the TV on and have stock tickers or cast a YouTube video of one of my products.

I'm on a small desk, facing a wall, but have a sliding glass door looking out to my street on my right, my kitchen counter on my left, and my living room behind me, all open plan.

It's a ground floor basement suite.

Reminds me I constantly need commission ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

My desk faces a window to get that natural light in!

If you want some advice from a professional lighting designer here is a good post. https://languageoflight.blog/2022/07/20/1thing-plug-in-home-office/

My home office doubles as a speakeasy. I'm surrounded on all four sides of my desk by a rather extensive and valuable bourbon collection.

If possible, face a window. I turned mine to face a window and it's made a huge difference.
