What is your quota, and what is your OTE? And what percentage of the OTE is base, and what is commission? Is it 50/50? (i.e, 120k OTE, 60k base 60k commission)

And what level AE are you?

My first year I killed my quota. Did almost 2.3M on a 1.3M quota.

I am too embarrassed to say what I make. I am worth so much more. 😭

Embarrassed that I don’t know what OTE means.

I never did sales before so they set the bar low my first year. I am evidently a natural. I came in first place in the company for bookings.

Second year top six salespeople got a giant quota. If I hit my next two months, I am still $177k off from making quota and hence no bonuses. Bonuses made up about $20k of pay last year. If I can catch up, I’ll get paid on all bonuses for the year. The chances are slim, I have very little repeat business because I am still so new and our leads are zilch right now.

I signed up for a 20k base and 6% commissions give or take. It was unclear, I was naive.

Last year total comp was about 5%… 😭

We don’t get paid until job is complete and I am still waiting on product to be delivered installed from last years sales - we were killed in the production arena by covid.

Great pipeline for my “paycheck layaway” but brutal waiting, being held hostage.

I did renegotiate for a larger base through a draw vs commission so at least I have some consistent income. I just feel like I am always fighting for money and I shouldn’t have to being a number 1 or 2 salesperson in the organization (out of about 35).

Mine is 50/50 plus bonus on top. 170/170 plus 26k performance bonus. So 366K OTE.

Very complex SaaS to government, 18-36 month sales cycle. No one here will be under 100% quota, most of us are 150-200, this one girl is like 2000% lol. Fell into a 25M ACV deal… most of us are on 1-2M quotas since we don’t fully know our market potential yet.

We’re about to be series C, just trying to gobble market share right now. Doubt this comp plan will last forever but it’s crazy good rn. They let us earn.

My OTE is supposed to be a 50/50 split base/ variable.
Is it reasonable? Not really. I don’t think my quota is attainable. But that is what it is.

dude I just got offered a 15/85 split haha with 15% commission rate, which sucks. I would think for a 15/85 split comish would be 30%

I am on the first level of being an AE.
I usually get to 100% of the quota, but last 2 months have been a little difficult.

Waiting on new quota now for new FY. You all know how sales letters / comp plans are...

For last year I had OTE 240K, Quota 2.86M, and hit 110%. 50/50 split OTE

Expecting ~25% - 30% jump in quota this year so will be arguing for an OTE increase.

Currently Sr. Enterprise AM in cyber.

My company aggressively over-assigns quota, so I would not say this is a good benchmark.

Focus on learning as much as you can about how sales works, how sales planning works, the GTM cycle, how customers make decisions. Plan to spend your first ~3 years focused on absorbing everything you can, staying humble, and focusing on building knowledge.

THEN you hit the gas and use that to launch your career.

I think a lot of folks fall into the trap of wanting to smash it big Year 1, and that inevitably sets you on a path to burnout. Take the time to learn the complex craft that is sales. Don't expect yourself to be a pro out of the box.

Quota is $1M in profit for the firm. OTE is $145k without bonuses. $85k base and $60k commission = OTE. We are negotiating a base salary increase soon, but I’m thinking about a commission increase also. Director of Business Development. Senior level. I crushed my quota this year already so I do have some leverage, maybe enough to gain ownership. Hoping to close $1.5M-$1.8M in profit this year but some deals are getting delayed.

There is also another firm out there who is trying to figure out how to hire me with a $200k base + commission who is also employee owned.

I am in a good position here, I think.

Hey so started not too long in a new role Mid Market AE OTE is 200K 50/50 in SAAS. Quota is 800K ACV. Average attainment rate last year was under 20%. Only learned that one after being hired. So far at 35% YTD right into the big Power Play for Q4 $$!

I'm just straight up salary with compensation for mileage since I'm field sales. Bringing in just over six figures and happy with that at only 6 years into my sales career.

I don't have a quota either, hence the salary only comp plan.
