What is your response to previous sales quotas during interviews?

During interviews, what is your response when they ask about your quota attainment for each role you've had? Examples would be great!

Usually I will reference the most recent quarter, current FY, or previous FY. Which ever is best.
But always tell the truth because they can ask you to prove it or back-channel

I promise you they will never ask you to prove it or back channel.

Source: I interviewed 50 fucking times in the last 12 months and that never happened in the slightest.

I can assure you they will back channel in a general sense. If you say you were a crusher they will ask someone at the old org if you were. Maybe not specifics, but general ranking in the org.

Just make sure your numbers add up. If you say a certain quota, certain average deal size, number of deals and your attainment, the math better check out. Especially when you're interviewing with a CRO

same, along with the segment definition, average deal size, sales cycle and personas -- it's been saving so much time on recruiter screens

do you want me to be honest?
i stretched the truth / lied for a while.
thankfully i dont have to do that anymore since ive had really solid results.
i knew if I didnt stretch the truth a bit i would be stuck in the total shit show I was in.
it worked. now i dont have to do that.

Always tell them a high number. For some reason some people think that if you haven’t sold a $1m deal, you can’t.

Attainment should be on your resume, along with any awards (Presidents Club/Exec Club) you've earned. Then be prepared to discuss. If you've had a couple of misses, you should be able to explain those - no excuses, just facts (new to the territory and it took me a while to ramp).

I have numbers handy in my own notes. Resume has my average attainment. I think average attainment is a decent measuring stick.

Know your numbers. If they try to dive deep, have it written out so it shows you are prepared and you focus on what it takes to hit quota.

Be honest. If you had a bad month, quarter or year, explain why and what you are doing to correct the down turn.

Rejected by recruiter for SDR position before any interview, despite having referral and track record. My inner-salesman is telling me to ignore the rejection and start reaching out to Sales Managers directly.
