What Makes a resume stand out and get you interview (for freshers)?

Hey,

I am currently looking for a opportunity to work as a remote SDR and wondering if there are some things in resume which makes it great and potentially land on Interview?

I would mention past outreach success if you can relate that in performance numbers.  Also put in keywords that you can find online for that specific role as I have found out many systems looks for those keywords to open next steps.

You will need to find companies that have those roles for actual first-time SDR/BDRs.   Some of the larger companies offer significant and rigorous training, but they can be difficult to get into.    You may get a large number of rejections or just no response; part of sales is being able to develop a tolerance for this, which may be hard to do at first, and is certainly hardest when what you are selling is yourself.   But - the best thing to do is to start applying.

Any resume or communication will need to have good grammar and spelling, so be mindful of that when putting those together.  You don't want to stand out for the wrong reasons.

And regarding standing out:  you're new, with presumably little to no experience.   There's only so much you can do.  However, is there anything in your past that's applicable?   Can you point to a good work ethic, diligence, adaptability?

I don't have anything to mention like that.

I just wanted something that can land me on a Interview but I can see there isn't any 'secret sauce'

What do you mean by 'first time SDR' by the way?

And thanks for the insights!

Here's a hack I use as a hiring manager: If I find fluff in the resume, i already have a negative bias created for the candidate. I mean, it's 1 page. Every single word needs to be chosen carefully and should be a value-add. If I want to read fluff, i can go to LinkedIn. Why read it from a resume?

I would worry less about your resume and more about connecting with people on LinkedIn. I would be reaching out to various SDR Managers, Directors, etc. and pitch to them. That will help you stand out.

I did 2 years of recruiting prior to sales. I’d you’re just trying to get in as a BDR, highlight “sales” aspects of past roles.

What sort of work have you done in the past? Anything in tech?

None. I've just completed studying and trying to figure out my way into sales.

I would love to. But can you please let me know how can I ask for refferals since nobody knows me.

Will they trust someone they don't know.

What exactly should I say to earn the refferal?

Your entry level GTM recruiter schedules an interview between you and a potential new Sales Leader. What are the red flags that make you cringe when reading the resume of your potential new manager?
