Whats the average tenure of ICs at your current company?

Average at my company is only about 12 months right now. Ive been here about 2.5 years and almost nobody who I started with is still here. For my next job, I want to be somewhere that its normal to stay 3+ years, but I dont know if this is a just a sales thing where that will be hard to find, or if its more of my company thats the problem.

The average over the years is about 2.5 years for my current company. We have some that have been here for 6+ years and they have been crushing it.

Curious, why are you asking?

Updated my post to add context. Pretty much despite only being here 2.5 years, Im basically a dinosaur here. I really want my next place to be somewhere people stay longer but I just want to gauge how realistic that is in today's market.

Ahh makes sense then. Thank you for updating/editing your post.

The whole "Covid job hop" thing did a tailspin for the sales world. Companies were paying super high salaries and then when things went to shit, they had to lay people off due to capital. People aren't going to be getting the hug increases by job hopping anymore, so I think tenure is going to rise again.

Just my thoughts.

think for most folks in our sales organization its at least 2 years. Almost everyone on my direct team has been with my current company in some capacity for over 3.

Nice, thats the kind of place Im looking for in my next role. It wears on you to constantly see people coming and going like a revolving door

8 months, 2 layoffs and a new pip process have been real fun here...

My new role has a higher average tenure around 5 years versus 2 years at my old job.

similar to you 2.5 in way above average i think they were just hiring anyone in the beginning and got a few bad ones in a row since this product has been great to sell at least in my experience.
I think going somewhere with tenured sellers is a good sign of stability but you also guarantee all the good patches are taken and will be for a while. Obviously the risk being the only rep to stick through rough waters is you still end up with a shit product and no PMF but find the right one and the upside is gigantic.

It depends on industry, tech it seems normal to be around 12-24 months bc itโ€™s easier to get a higher paying job than a raise

Maybe a culture issue? Do you like the company? Are people being fired or leaving voluntarily ?

As far as I am happy there, I would not think much about switching unless there is a huge pay variation.

4+years here! Itโ€™s not rare at my company but itโ€™s a Fortune 500 and most folks that are tenured moved up quickly when the market was good so company did everything they could to keep them. Also industry for my company is still hot and the product fit is 5/5 so that also matters
