Tomorrow begins a 3-day conference, which makes today a travel day for one of my new guys, a MEDDIC-trained pro I was fortunate enough to be able to pull out of the unemployment void 90-days ago. Since day-1 he's been 100% engaged... comes from another vertical, so the curve is pretty steep.
He's full of questions, the right kind, that come after an effort to understand first. Like, "if this is true, then wouldn't that make sense too?" The guy makes me think. He hits his daily KPI's like clockwork. All he wants is to have full product command and be better at the pitch than I am.
He'll never demo the way I demo, not because I'm an egotistical prick (debatable), but because I'm me and he's not. He's got his own more methodical style that I believe will prove out long-term, and maybe make me better. I am so here for it. A guy like this gets his calls and texts returned immediately, and a manager who would take a bullet for him. This is how you start a new job.
I'm dropping this because of a recent post seeking advice on how to address an unavailable manager. My advice, be this guy. This guy always gets the attention he needs. If you're this guy and don't get attention, it's probably not fixable.
