Who should my new BDRs follow on LinkedIn?

We have a new batch of BDRs who started this week at my company. If you had to recommend some LinkedIn sales people/influencers to follow, who would you recommend?

Appreciate any links or recommendations!

I would recommend they stay off of LI and invest in other sales training and development.

Even though I follow a few, I'd recommend good sales books over influencers; yes some of them have written books; those are ok. But rather than giving them a guru, it's better to give them the tools they need to succeed.

Grant Cardone, Gary V, Brandon Bornancin. Any and every Gong SDR.

Jk jk. Josh Braun. Jordan Belfort (yes him lol).

The real answer is no one. Get off linkedin and pick up the phone slaves!

No one.

Tell them to do their job, make the calls, set meetings, and learn from the best internal resources you have. Your CEO, your best sales reps, etc.

They should Follow Ross Pomerantz and Sahil Mansuri, @GeneralCorp speaks highly of them 😎

If they have to follow anyone, those are the two.

Most of my LI these days is just full of infomercials, cross-posting pats on backs, and pontification.

As much as The War Room loves to circlejerk around how terrible LinkedIn is, I've found some helpful tips from there

- Belal Betrawy
- Stephan Hamilton
- Josh Braun
- Jason Bay
- Jed Mahrle

Sam Nelson from outreach also puts out some pretty good content that can help with cadence structure. I find his tips pretty useful in building out cadences and incorporating specific content where need be.

Also, don't know why Josh Braun gets ripped on so much. Yes, he's corny as hell, generic, and redundant with a lot of what he puts out compared to others, but there is some good stuff to take away from some of his content when it comes to email structure.

I agree, Josh Braun isn't perfect but his email writing content really improved my cold email success rates. I bought his eBook thing around a year ago and I'm happy with my purchase. There's definitely some stuff in there that makes me scratch my head a bit, like there's some stuff on cold calling and objection handling that made me think "are there people out there that actually talk like this?" But his stuff on mindset, email structure, personalization, etc. has helped me a ton.

I bought in too lol, and yeah, mainly just use it for email reference as like you said there are a lot of head-scratchers, but overall if you use his content chances are your emails are a whole lot better than when you started out

Kyle Coleman isn't getting the attention he deserves. Also Josh Braun, John Barrows, Morgan Ingram.

I would recommend they follow @calistathepitbull on Instagram. She has no ears so she looks like a seal but she's super cute.

Does Dan Price post anything relevant to sales people? From what I've seen his posts are all about how big companies are bad and should stop screwing over low level employees. I definitely agree with many of his opinions but I don't think he's ever posted anything that would help a BDR do anything besides building resentment for their employer.

Look instead to provide them with real training JBSales/Kevin Dorsey and other all have programs or courses that will actually offer real benefit to them.

Different price levels depending on budget.

Vast majority of LI is regurgitated trash.

Stay away, they are only good writers. as @UrAssIsSaaS suggested, get them enrolled in some training - there are many out there.

Most “influencers” on Linkedin are full of shit. They give sales advice, yet have never sold, or at least haven’t for a long time. I even have a hard time following the direction of well known sales managers or VPs of Sales, because again, they do not sell themselves and rather help guide their reps. Tell them to get Bravado 😅

None. Invest in training.

I have yet to find someone that does it better then John Barrows.

What is your ICP?

Tell them to forget about following any sales influencers on LinkedIn, and to follow key personas at your customers and target accounts instead.

Unless you sell into sales and/or marketing, following a bunch of salespeople and/or marketers is a waste of time.

Engaging with your ICP, on the other hand, is how you find diamonds.

My rule of thumb is that if someone says “crush it/crushing it/rockstar” more than once in any given setting, they’re garbage. That being said here are some people who treat the job like adults: Kyle Coleman, Jed Marhle, Jeremy Donovan (he wrote a great book for SDR), David Delaney (also his podcast) Books to have them read: Leading sales development by Jeremy Donovan The sales development playbook by Trish Bertuzzi The sales development framework by David Dulaney Sales development by Cory Bray & Hilmon Sorey Podcasts: Blissful Prospecting Millennial Sales Sales development by tenbound Stay the fuck away from most everyone else.

If your company records calls, schedule a regular meeting in their calendar every week and listen to the calls of the highest performing BDRs in your company.

That'll do more than them following someone or even reading a Sales book.

All depends on what you sell and who you sell it to.

Are your prospects on Linkedin? Most aren't! 99% of Linkedin users do not post regularly.

But if you're targeting someone who *is* on Linkedin, send them an invitation to connect and check out what they post and who they follow.
