Will you need self-hosted / private ChatGPT Model (or alike)?

Hey gang, I really like how everything is shifting with ChatGPT like things to boost people's productivity. I feel like if CRM data was in the learning model, it can revolutionise the output upto some expect. In our org, we aren't allowed to touch ChatGPT or any external tool (not even google translate). I also think, I should not be putting anything company/customer specific data on these tools (who knows man). Some companies are looking to host their in-house tools but mine are far-far from such approach. What can I do?

I want to be able to run my own thing below my desk but don't know how to?

I know a nerdy friend who has been playing with self-hosted models for fun but I am not sure how far is it good for the purpose of generating ChatGPT like content.

Am I going to loose an edge over the folks who are using new tools and upgrading themselves for their outreach and pipeline building?

I do, but only a handful of times per week. And I don't hook it up to my CRM.

Tell me more.. I have been ignoring it in similar way.. and sometime gets pissed off when people use to start sentence with "... and our AI-driven X will do this and that..."

And then I learnt about "Normalcy Bias" (people kill themselves even when they see volcano approaching them) and then started challenging myself to pick up the AI sticks to poke what's in it. I say, it is not there yet but it is far ahead to start making use of it.

I agree on the noise around forced AI (nice term btw)
But, Do you feel the fundamental shift in post-covid times ?

AI/ML have been around for a long while, but the publicly available tools changed the discussion. That led to everyone's AI capabilities in a footrace to prove themselves. But think about it - Einstein and Watson have been around for years. Adobe has Sensei, and has for years. It's not new, it's just that now we can play with it ourselves and there are open source options. It's a tool, it's interesting, in certain industries it can provide value. I do think some of the noise is the hammer looking for the nail rather than trying to problem solve and leveraging AI as a tool to get there, if you follow the analogy.

We got banned from using because of their obvious security issues.

I like the product and idea, but they are essentially just scraping anyone's data online, without zero copyright due diligence.

I expect some major lawsuits coming...

It’s useful for some things but there’s a shit ton of hype around it in general.

you could always use a tool online and paste some info in. You can use it to research, build account lists, etc and save a ton of time. No need to share data for that.
