Working at Samsara?

Has anyone worked at/interviewed at Samsara for US AE roles?

They are hiring aggressively right now for MM

RepVue scores are extremely high, but don't seem as high on Bravado

Seen a lot of negatives along with the positives so wondering if anyone has any firsthand xp

TIA

I spoke to a recruiter from there. Seems like a great company but a low Base/OTE (76/152) for Mid Market and Im just not a at point where I can do that.

OOO someone speaking logistics TECH FINALLY I CAN RELATE! seriously though I know very little about them other than they are a FTL tracking subscription that a potential client utilizes and wants my TMS org to connect to.
I think they are partnered with some big money full truckload tech providers that make them very sticky.

know 2 people at Samsara, they have been there for 2+ and 3+ years respectively, they dominate the IOT space and telematics for trucking. Likely the territories have gotten smaller and selling always comes with challenges but to my understanding it is a solid solid organization.

I know someone there, they are doing extremely well. They’ve been there since the start of their career.

It’s one data point. But still sounds like a solid org to be at all things considered.

I interviewed there and it ended up being a massive waste of my time (aside from getting an at bat). You could tell they are being forced to go through the motions, have interview fatigue, and had their candidate already picked. They just read off a list of questions which is always a red flag. I also had an internal referral to get the interview.

Look I know sales managers are typically unimpressive but one of the guys I met there was just simply not intelligent. It was baffling.

Good company, I’ve heard great things, but yes to echo everyone else the OTE is low but it seems ppl are hitting but if you get shafted with a terrible territory there I could see 2 missed quarters being a reason for a company like that to show you the door. That’s a real possibility anywhere though

I haven't. I give side eye to high reviews on certain sites.

Interviewed for their MM role a while back and advanced though I was underqualified (just a year of closing at that point). I remember really liking their sales leaders and IC I met with, and that most were tenured.

seems like a solid sales org with a high demand product. That said i remember learning its a pain in the ass working with sales engineers and sometimes there are internal blockers to deals (personally can’t stand that shit). That, on top of selling to the persona that they do, turned me off

Great org - shittiest pay. I was offered an Enterprise Role there (before my current org), at the height of tech salaries and it was about $30k lower than expected

Nevertheless, they may have improved now

They are still fairly low. they put your zip code into something and their salaries are based on 'zones' and they "don't negotiate salaries because of corporate policies"

They are constantly hiring in my area so I'm curious if there's a burn and churn attitude internally, any insights?

The reason why their OTE’s are low ( which also reflects lower quotas ) is that they want their reps to actually hit their number. Their leadership is infamous for this at their previous and current companies that they’ve built. They want high morale to show that quotas can be hit / exceeded. Who cares if your OTE is $150k if you can make $250k consistently ?
