You mean 20 vendor RFI where you can't meet any DM

That's the one! Particularly when they have no defined next steps after the RFP/RFI process. "we'll be in touch..."

And you know that they already picked a vendor and this is a formality.

That is their process, it means “if your price is good we will contact you to negotiate you down further, or we won’t contact you”

Lol fuck procurement. I’ve already got the “yes” and sign off on price and then they always want to start renegotiating lmao.
This is why we never give the true total discount.

CISO - they are super well guarded, I sell to them but they rarely get involved until the middle/end of things.

they well guarded for sure.. It's funny when sales reps try to point out them costs of inaction to make them talk to them... CISOs are already always under pressure and barely sleep at night.. Threatening them, won't do any good

I hear HR is really bad in general

Engineers hit or miss depending on industry because they are either the chilliest/nerdiest (complimentary) people or they really hate sales folks

CISOs are just impossible to get a hold of unless you have the right connection or you’re lucky enough to work on something unique

Exactly.

At a previous role I was essentially outbounding them, connect rates were brutally low.

Hard disagree. If you can show ROI, CFOs want to work with you. They have a budget to spend, and they're gonna spend it on things that drive returns. And they steer the ship.
If you can't show ROI, well... what are you even doing?

There are no bad titles, only bad people. Don’t try to sell to the person who is not empowered to say “yes”

Anyone that sees your solution as threatening their job.

My first role, we sold to small construction companies and helped their accounting departments. So many low level accounting people would ironically stonewall us and tank our deals, which would have saved their company hundreds of thousand in revenue annually in non-payments.

In my line of work (commercial insurance and employee benefits) it’s been HR as they typically won’t make any changes unless something is on fire. I’ve always had better success dealing with CFOs— at least initially. I suppose this depends on what you’re selling!

Partner at a law firm for so many reasons!

They both are the decision maker and have no say without consensus from the other 300 partners. Not to mention they insert their ego into every conversation and try to poke holes for the fun of it.
