WTF HAVE I GOTTEN MYSELF INTO???

I was hired to manage a team at a company struggling to get more wins and everyone sucks. I've prided myself on being able to figure it out but they all are "yea but" and "that won't work" people. 1 sales guy hasn't had a sale in 2 yrs (yes I know, why does he still have a job?) 4 marketing people that don't work together and the admin girl knows how to fix everything and shes a cheeseburger away from 600lb life. WTF HAVE I GOTTEN MYSELF INTO??? Lil' help here or should I just run????

all 5 of them are doing the minimal for b2c, when I ask them questions about doing b2b its like a deer in the headlights. I found out they have 40k accounts in the database and 2500 emails and they have been getting sent a 1 page brochure every month over and over.

Either clear house, or set the tone in that place. If marketing can't work together, sales guys can't sell, and an admin who thinks she knows it all, you need to get all those people in a room, and tell them how it is going to be. If people walk, then they walk. That's the same as clearing house anyway. Otherwise, there is a chance they will listen, and then you can start going to work.

There were 5 but 1 guy is out having had a back surgery, another guy just quit on my 2nd day and he was here for a month so now its me, an 80 yr old guy how doesn't like to use a CRM and the guy who hasn't sold in 2 yrs. it's an oral healthcare product.

Had a meeting with the boss lady and she said the guy with no sales in 2 yrs didn't sell anything because he was only doing "biz dev" so he wasn't tasked to "sell" well, why tell me he hasn't had a sale in 2 yrs. Oh and she says he's her best employee FML. She did say if certain people don't get on board then tell her first then we can cut them off at the head. to be continued.....

You are now paid to be a change agent, I’m going to be harsh.

Hire another sales guy and PIP the “no CRM” and “no wins” guys. Figure out why customers are staying and focus that on ICP.

Confront the marketing people and tell them they need to come up with a b2b campaign and work with them to develop that in short order. Otherwise they walk the plank.

Do you really need an admin person for 8 people? Axe her ASAP, she’s redundant and with a couple sales people leaving/not winning you can’t afford her.

If these entirely reasonable demands are not met: you follow that guy that left on your second day because clearly he sees something that you also see.

Take the team for some drinks, they'll open up. Don't drink too much of course.

I joined a team as a sales leader to some SDR's that hated their role due to their previous manager...smashing targets now - treat both equally yet each individually! One is great on the phones yet one is more an email guy. Treat them as though you'd want to be treated.
