Yet another Gong thread...

So our company just started a trial period with Gong. After sitting through rollout calls and learning more about the platform, I'm a bit skeptical.

The intro call felt like a big sales pitch from the Gong rep and our executive team. The pitch was that Gong is going to be our personal assistant and make everything easier. The truth seems to be that it will create data for sales managers to coach an underperforming AE with best practices and gather data for new hire training.

Am I just being cynical or should I give it a chance? It is worth noting our company is not in saas. Our product is simple and does not typically involve coordinating with multiple teams / stakeholders.

Who does Gong REALLY benefit?

...the cynic in me thinks it's going to provide data points that won't be helpful for anything other than eliminating reps for whatever reason.

People have been selling without intrusive AI software for decades. It's a bunch of BS. And their reps make me want to off myself.

Gong can be useful, but as with anything it can be used for evil as well as good.

If you have ever wished you could remember what someone said during a call - this is a great way to remember. But if your sales management just wants it to be overbearing then that sucks.

Not a fan of Gong at all. Even as a manager. Waste of money and totally unnecessaryย

Gong was great for our SDR and company meetings. But we DID NOT use it for sales calls. It was a glorified meeting assistant transcription service.

My team uses gong to share recording they want feedback on and to build up a training library for new folks. Am I spending time in gong, Fuck no.

I trust my folks. If I didnโ€™t, they wouldnโ€™t work for me.

So like, Gong obviously forced all their employees to post on linkedin today with an obvious template?
