Advice ASAP

So I took the offer, I start Monday, but today I had an intevriew for a reit for investor relations which is the job I want.

Everything about the job is what I'm looking for, director seemed really cool. comp is significantly more than what I just accepted as well. they want me to do an in person interview which is in Miami which would cause me to relocate, but idk if I can get to Miami tomorrow bc my car is scheduled to get service and they don't have loaner cars.

so in a predicament here, obviously this is the job I want, but is it that bad of a look if I take my first Friday off to go down there for an intevriew? and potentially quit only after 2 weeks of working at the new job if I get it?

or should I tell the company I want that I'm not in a position to move, and ask if we can revisit in the new year?

what could you do in this situation?

Exactly, you have only one real offer/job the other one is just an interview. Treat it as such. Once you get the offer then its a different conversation

Call them and reschedule. Tell them something came up, apologize for the inconvenience, but let them know you are still very interested in the job.

Not really but I have family that’s close to Miami about 30 minutes away and I could probably sleep in their guest room for the first 2 months. I also brought it up to the director he said if you win the vote of the other 2 departments and we offer you, we’ll figure out how to get you down here.

Well I don’t need to go tomorrow, I can go next week but I’d have to take a day off my first week and the likely chance of that being approved is slim to none unless if I lie bc I just went to the hospital I can say I have to go in for a follow up.

If there is a way you can get there do it. You got credit card points you can cash in for a free rental car day? Some other discount or coupon? Can you borrow a car?
If this is what you want, make it happen!

In your industry companies drop sale people at a drop of a dime with no reason, so I say give it all you got to get that dream job you have been looking for, you may not get another chance. I this world to many people hesitate and later regret that they never moved on that opportunity. Just do it. 👍👍👌

Gotta look out for number one at this point. It’s one day off. They won’t know where you really are at. I wouldn’t trip and go for it. Worst case other job doesn’t work out and keep
At the current new gig. Like you said not favorite anyways. So who cares.

thats the plan now, but my car will be out the shop by then, so I won't have to rent. gonna ask for a half day off, go to my friends house in west palm about 45 minutes away from the office, work the rest of the day there. hopefully get offered, figure out how to relocate there get a start date jan 12th or so, quit the new job in january by saying hey I dont like working here or something, start the new job move to miami, change my name to wolf of Brickell or wolf of miami. Thats the fucking plan

What do you get commission/bonuses based on? my understanding of IR was you mainly work on financial modeling and tracking other reit performance.

Majored in economics and I came from insurance which is close to a financial advisor role. The director told me straight up he was 50/50 on giving me an interview but said he liked me and wants me to come to the office for the next round
