Advice for AE in college

I somehow obtained a full-cycle AE role at a startup while still in college and would like advice on my next move. The deal sizes of my SAAS product are pretty small ($1k-$5k ARR) but once in a blue moon, I get to close Enterprise-sized deals ($30k+ ARR).

If I switch from a Bachelor of Science in Business to a Bachelor of Professional Studies in Business, I can graduate earlier. I personally don't care which one as I've never learned anything in college, but I'm looking to move from transactional SAAS to more consultative. I have around 7 months of experience now and will have around a year of experience when I graduate. Does it matter which degree I have when applying to AE roles that require a degree and 1+ years of SAAS experience? And any advice for the jump?

I don't think it matters what degree you have. The experience matters much more than that. If you're planning on sticking with Saas sales, I'd try to graduate as soon as possible

Degrees mean nothing...but your experience and business acumen will hold you back from gaining consultative roles. Build your skills for a year at your current spot post-graduation and then make your move.

I love this post. โ€œPerosonally ive never learned anything in collegeโ€. Iโ€™d day focus on something that could help you get promoted.

My undergrad was Philosophy, and I went into tech sales. Just finish up and get those letters behind your name, but don't worry about what degree it is.ย

I have two degrees. Economics and Corporate Finance.

Haven't used either of them. Degrees don't mean shit - hitting your number does. At the most, a degree will show your ability to commit and execute on that commitment.

I'd stick it out in the role for closer to two years before jumping ship unless you're very unhappy.ย

Graduate early. Only degree that will mean anything in sales is MBA from top 10 school and not because of what you learn. Degrees are not uselessโ€ฆ they just have an inflated valuation
