AE -team leads Compensated or not?

I work at a large company as an AE & was tapped as team lead... only to find out it's just a title no added pay -just good old kuddos... bc ya know "these are the steps to mgmt" is this common?

would love to hear from other team leads how you set boundaries & how you get paid...

My only team lead designation was many years ago. No additional pay. It did lead to a promotion, so while I wouldn't change what I did all those years ago, I wouldn't do it now. More responsibility and work, more pay.

I don’t get why these corps think we would want a title wo more pay or smaller quota while other ICs don’t do more work… i’m not a volunteer.

super common. and yes take it seriously because if you dont, and you want to actually be a manager some day at that company it will be hard to get if you didnt do a good job as team lead.

i havnt seen a team lead that has any sort of REALLY power or authority. just someone who has to be a cheerleader and make reports for everyone. so idk i hope its different for you.

Only reason why you shouldn't be mad is because lead is never an increase in pay, ever. Now if they ask you to literally go up in segment or change roles, yes you have to get an increase. The cool thing about the lead title is that it most likely won't last longer than 6-8 months
