Alright lads he did it again: What do I do next?

Today, he did it again and booked ANOTHER meeting with one of my accounts. I'm fuming.


I have a one on one with my boss tomorrow. What should I say while conveying my frustrations but being professional at the same time?

July 28, 2023, 10:30 AM - Convince direct report that the email he got was fake. You don't actually those kinds of pictures at home.

If you are really pissed, write up a resignation letter. Do you report to the same manager? Kill the emotion in it, deliver facts and tell him this is untenable. It's him or me - which would you prefer.

BE AGGRESSIVE - B, E AGGRESSIVE. Honestly, if the manager doesn't help, it might be time to either get in his face a bit and tell him to knock it off directly. I know dudes like this, and it helps if they are slightly terrified of you because they don't know how to deal with direct call outs. I also like the suggestion of adding yourself to the call with your manager and taking over from there.

Don't hate the player, hate the game and get in there and own your stuff.

Type up a clear timeline of all of the transgressions. Include as much detail as you can.

For example:




- Douche Canoe emailed my account on x/x/xxxx
- Douche Canoe followed up with phone calls on x/x/xxxx and x/x/xxxx

- I informed Douche Canoe that he is infringing on my territory, verbally and via email on x/x/xxxx

- Discussed this issue with manager in 1:1 on x/x/xxxx

- Manager stated X action would be taken

- Douche Canoe again emailed my account on x/x/xxxx

- I called Douche Canoe's mom on x/x/xxxx and scheduled a meeting

- I took Douche Canoe's mom out to dinner and a movie on x/x/xxxx

etc...

The more of it is documented in SFDC / Teams / Email, the more accurate timeline you can develop.

Use this to talk to your manager and inform anyone that is just hearing of this for the first time that it has been ongoing, and that you have been unable to get any assistance stopping the behavior.

Have a plan for when they just shrug and say tough shit, and hope you don't have to employ it.

@Kosta_Konfucius @Gasty The account I had in my name is a parent account of the company he booked with. It has like 10 brands under it and the individual brands were not in my name on hubspot.
I was very up front with my boss expressing my dissatisfaction about it. Especially it being the second time.
My VP told me he didn't think he did it on purpose compared to the first time. He said I have every right to be upset but he said let's focus on putting all the individual accounts under my name to prevent this from happening.
But, karma kicked in and the prospect ghosted him :)

@BTQ Does your company have a Rules of Engagement doc? What does it say about parent/child/subsidiary ownership?
If that doesn't exist work with the VP to get it in. If it does exist, and it's clear cut then you should be getting at least a split on those opps.

Ahhh, the dreaded subsidiary issue.
Yeah, the trick is to make sure everything is tagged or assigned properly.
Since you have an account list, might a great idea to take some time to make sure all subs are correctly in the system and assigned properly to avoid this kind of mistake.

That is seriously gross.. shit all over him and definitely tell your manager he is sabotaging your and everyone's deals. Unfortunetly, its the corp world. Snitching is about the only option you have, beating him to a pulp outside the office will just get you a lawsuit lmao - What a complete asshole!!
