I haven't had an annual review since 2020 (it was a review for 2019). I remember I was given a 2% raise, brought my base pay up to $42,250 per year. Jobs after that: promoted prior to one year, laid off prior to the end of the review year, fired before the end of the review year. I got a "exceeds expectations" at my 6 month review back in 2022 though.

yeah, I feel like I'm very aware of where I stand with any company I've been a part of and these HR formalities are so that HR/People ops can pat themselves on the back and say they're doing their job...

Dont have a formal performance review process where i work. In fact i dont think ive had one since my first year of starting out in sales 10 years ago. Have weekly 1:1's which keep on top of stuff. Got a 10% raise though to start the year which was nice.

A necessary evil. I tell my kids, this is why you took English in college. So you have a way to get through these assignments as quickly as possible.
