They call me Daddy, Sales Daddy
I know that selling high dollar equipment (think snow removal, garbage trucks, etc) can really pay. I would definitely expand the search.

This is a fact. Heavy equipment is wildly lucrative.

Yes. It’s been relieving and amazing to get out of the industry and run an org in a totally different vertical.

I'd love to hear a bit more about your experience. I want to (not right now) explore the world outside of tech sales, some day.

Came from Med Dev to SaaS, probably the only industry I'd want to go back to.

So Ive been told by some people that to get into the med device world you usually have to be a former college athlete or a hot woman...how true is that stereotype?

Hows the money in roofing?

The money is… Interesting. Hangs on trees so to speak. I am literally going door to door, selling a free inspection, filing an insurance claim if damage exists, then signing homeowner up for repairs/new roof put on by my company if insurance pays. Average roof is 15k, we make 12 percent on that.
You can make literally anything you want, but that means you are knocking 100 front doors a day. Way more fulfilling than saas sales, way more physically demanding, a lot less selling involved, more trust building. You are trying to make a bunch of new friends in each neighborhood.

30 front doors is tiring. 100 though…

SaaS and services are two different ball games, with similar attack and work flows, and sometimes even the same end buyer. My experience was in going from Technical Security Consulting Sales, to Cyber Risk Management SaaS sales. My take-away, I really enjoyed selling technical services, because the depth of our offerings were so vast, there was so many ways for me to help our clients. However -- when moving to SaaS, it really depended on the tool and the features it provided / value add. Which narrowed my target audience during outreach.

Yes it was a great relief and a surprise to leave that industry and run an organization in a completely different industry.

I went from Telecom to SaaS, while the base & OTE are higher, both have their own stressors but SaaS has far less micromanagement. I also got pigeonholed for killing KPI’s in Telecom & it was hard to break back into SaaS because it’s all about “what have you done for us lately.” Telecom can move up faster, but it’s about picking your poison at this point in the Sales environment. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I went from selling LV and furniture to Tech. Tech is the best, but it's also the hardest.

Is anyone here in sales outside of tech/SaaS? Feeling like this is primarily a SaaS sales community… If you sell anything other than software holla at me!
