Anyone in med device sales?

Just looking for some broad outlook into the industry. I have an opportunity to interview with a well known med device company, but coming from machine vision sales I'm a bit in the dark on day to day. Prospecting? General clientele? Any insight appreciated, just trying to clear up some of my ignorance before continuing in the process.

I'm sure a lot of this will get answered later in the process and I've reached out via LinkedIn to some reps at the company, seeing if anyone here has their own two cents.

In Med device.

Still sales at end of day. You’ll have a territory, you need to know how to prospect and find the right POC for whatever you sell.

For the interview, it’s probably best to get an idea of the specialty the device is in (respiratory, diagnostic, etc) and learn as much as you can about the product and who the market share leaders are.

Used to work at Med industry.
While being interviewed I suggest focusing on two things.
Firstly: Pitch yourself as a so patient person since most of your calls will be with seniors that may exceed 30mins to an hour or even more and most of their cases will require MEDs or DMEs.
Secondly: Try to have a quick overview on the most well-known Meds and Pain killers in the market and try to make a way to pitch em based on the qualifying questions you need to ask the patients first as per their medical condition.
Best of luck!

What did you sell in meds? Seems like we never see people leave med device in the US once they are successful.

5 years in med device (got out last year) Breaking in will be hard, reasonable quotes and on-ramp time is a must. Doctors have relationships that are unrivaled with their reps - it’s hard to beat. This is a relationship business to the max. Good products make a difference, burn it as much as you might like to think. Feel free to DM. If you stay in and build relationships, you can make great money.

Got a buddy in Med Device and I have been extremely inquisitive since I am in healthcare IT and I occasionally overlap with these reps in offices. From what I can understand, being able to flex your ability to cultivate relationships will be huge as this is almost always how reps win in the space.
