Artificial Salary negotiation limits

I had been thinking about the new trend of posted salary ranges in job ads.The big ranges were making me both laugh and cringe. "Thus job could pay between $1 and $1m"
But reading this article made me think of a different perspective on this. The ranges are limiting negotiation on the upper range and discouraging some people to apply.
The point of the article - Advertised salary ranges are not set in stone. That's why you still have to negotiate.
Know your worth and be willing to walk.

It's their way around the law in some states. Disgusting.

Yes and this range sometimes also makes one to assume that they haven’t reviewed their job post and many don’t apply thinking it’s fake or not genuine :)

Case in point, recent ad from major tech company looking for EAE. Job post says entry level, requirements include 10+ years experience. They’re not even trying to make them make any sense.

Whatever to give the minimum response to laws that fit the bill.

honestly it's an item to take care of on the first call to make sure your expectations are aligned with theirs. If not then no point in continuing the process.

The fews times that a range has been provided in the job posting, I've always just used it as a guide for what they have budgeted for the position. Definitely use it for negotiations, and if they really want you they can usually stretch that budget up a bit higher than the posted maximum.

Nice Article.Mainly what you should learn from it is to always search the average payout for the job you're applying for otherwise the employers are gonna kick your..!!

Requiring comp ranges is a TERRIBLE policy advocated by woke douchebags who gave ZERO foresight into the issues it would create.

No. Companies do this because they are salty that someone put a law in place to stop gap their bullshit time wasting efforts when it comes to pay transparency across the board.

Ranges that could effectively pay for 2 or 3 people in a job. Not a range.
Every single benefit listed but no salary. These are intentional jokes. Fact is, if we are talking about the role, then we are talking about the salary at the most immediate opportunity. If someone won't do that, don't waste your time further. Because they will waste yours.

Protect your time. You know it's valuable. Don't let others think otherwise.
