Building an email list for cold outreach

Hey savages, buddy of mine needs a hand ๐Ÿ–๏ธย

I've been fortunate to have ZoomInfo and Sales Nav in my toolkit for years so haven't had to put together an email list from scratch for a while, but friend of mine is bootstrapping a startup and asked me how to find email addresses for his ICP.ย

I know some strategies that have worked like just trying "firstname@companyname.com" or "first.last@company.com" and hoping you don't get flagged as a dick by your email provider, but wondering if anyone here's had some success in building a list like this in the 21st century.ย

Thanks in advance ๐ŸŒฎย

Hunter.io and Apollo are great tools with freemium tiers that give you a ton of access.

Agree 1000% both of these are great solutions for very low cost

Never used Hunter but DEFINITELY second Apollo for value.

The guessing works a lot better when you find a few email addresses in one of the above tools and use the same format for ones that aren't known @JavierCake

Other than suggesting the first initial dot last variation, along with all possible others, maybe consider the low tech route? Call and ask for it. Hereโ€™s a script:

โ€œHi, this is St Peter up here at the gate. Been trying to get a gate code over to Jimbo. but the email bounced back. You got a good address for him? Obviously, this is time sensitive, if you donโ€™t have it handy, Iโ€™ll hold.โ€

If he has a list of target orgs, Hunter and Apollo are great.
I'm unsure what individual licenses are like for Lusha or ZI though, may be worth the investment vs time spend on other tools.

ZI individual was $8K US like 5-6 years ago and they didn't even want to offer that without finagling.

Hunter.io is a great email finding service that has a free extension with limited look ups and then there is a paid version with more look ups. I use this alongside ZoomInfo now and it is very accurate. It will also give you the naming convention for the organization so you can guess at emails if you want to try.
